CURL: The cost of a NYC weekend - Washington Times

CURL: The cost of a NYC weekend - Washington Times

In another odd twist left unexamined by the media, the White House on Monday said it simply would not release the cost of President Obama's weekend jaunt to New York City, where the First Couple had dinner and caught a Broadway show.

Spokesman Robert Gibbs, keeping the White House press corps in stiches, as he always does, said the Obamas would have preferred using a commercial airline shuttle to New York and back, but the Secret Service would not allow such unprotected travel (ba da bing).

And that was that. No further probing; asked and answered; time to move on.

I know I have a tendency to rant about media bias. But you have to admit it is all over the place. Had this been George W. Bush taking this trip, the media would still be all over this, demanding to know every penny that was spent. But because this was Mr. and Mrs. Messiah, we don't need to know. Double standard? I think so.

I hope America succeeds.

Therefore, I hope Obama fails. I oppose his far left agenda, and I hope he is not successful in pushing it through.

Obama's policies are wrong. Successful implementation of his liberal agenda would harm the American people, weaken our national security, threaten our constitutional liberties, and greatly increase the power of the government over the lives of individual citizens.

Very well written piece. I agree with you 100%, Steve.

Rasmussen Reports™: The Most Comprehensive Public Opinion Data Anywhere

Only 21% of voters nationwide support a plan for the government to bail out General Motors as part of a structured bankruptcy plan to keep the troubled auto giant in business.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 67% are opposed to a plan that would provide GM with $50 billion in funding and give the government a 70% ownership interest in the company.

Even when presented with the stark choice between providing government funding or letting GM go out of business, only 32% of voters support the bailout. Most voters (56%) say it would be better to let GM go out of business.

The public seems to get it. When will Obama get a clue???

Russian fishermen catch squeaking alien and eat it - Pravda.Ru

Russian fishermen catch squeaking alien and eat it - Pravda.Ru

Village residents from the Rostov region of Russia caught a weird creature two weeks ago after a strong storm in the Sea of Azov. The shark-looking creature was producing strange squeaky sounds. The fishermen originally believed that they had caught an alien and decided to film the monster with the help of a cell phone camera. The footage clearly shows the creatures’ head, body and long tail. The bizarre catch was weighing almost 100 kilograms, the Komsomolskaya Pravda reports.

However, ufologists and scientists were greatly disappointed when they found out that the fishermen had eaten the monster. They said that they were not scared of the creature so they decided to use it as food. One of the men said that it was the most delicious dish he had ever eaten.

I'm betting this was a meal that was out of this world???

Mr Savage said he was ‘outraged’ the Government had put him in the same category as Islamic hate preachers and terrorists.

I hope Michael wins this. I am rooting for him.

Netanyahu: Call for settlement freeze unreasonable - Yahoo! News

JERUSALEM – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is dismissing U.S. calls for a West Bank settlement freeze as unreasonable.

Officials say Netanyahu delivered his assessment to a closed parliamentary committee Monday.

The U.S. has demanded that Israel halt all construction in the settlements. Netanyahu says some building must continue to accommodate what he calls "natural growth."

A meeting participant says Netanyahu testified that Israel cannot "freeze life" in existing settlements. He said "there are reasonable requests and unreasonable requests."

Netanyahu will do what he needs to do to protect Israel. And no American president is going to bully him into doing something that is not in his country's best interest.

Abortion Foes Fear Backlash to Tiller's Murder

Abortion Foes Fear Backlash to Tiller's Murder

NEW YORK (AP) -- Anti-abortion leaders voiced concern Sunday that the Obama administration and other Democrats may try to capitalize on the murder of Dr. George Tiller to defuse the abortion issue in upcoming Supreme Court confirmation hearings.

Many anti-abortion groups condemned the killing of Tiller, a prominent abortion provider who was shot dead at his church in Wichita, Kan. But they expressed concern that abortion-rights activists would use the occasion to brand the entire anti-abortion movement as extremist.

They also worried that there would now be an effort to stifle anti-abortion viewpoints during questioning of Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor. Her exact views on abortion aren't known, but conservatives fear she supports abortion rights.

Said the Rev. Patrick Mahoney, an anti-abortion activist: "No one should use this tragedy for political gain."

Tiller, one the few American doctors specializing in late-term abortions, had been the target of repeated protests and harassment for many years, and he was wounded by gunfire from an anti-abortion activist in 1993.

Let me make this clear. Murder is always wrong, whether it is this man or the millions of innocent babies being murdered by the abortion industry. But I also must state that this man died much the way he lived. And that also cannot be denied.
