Secretary of State Ron Thornburgh plans to drop out of the 2010 race for Kansas governor.
His departure would clear the path for U.S. Sen. Sam Brownback, who also sought the Republican nomination.
"After much thoughtful reflection," Thornburgh said, "a run for governor is not meant to be."
This is a huge story. I like Ron Thornburgh, and I believe he is all class. But I also admire Sam Brownback, and pray we can unify around him next year.
