Editorial: Firm's aid to Topeka Transit could help bus service CJOnline.com

Beleaguered members of the Topeka Metropolitan Transit Authority's board of directors should be heartened by the emergence of an ally in their struggle to maintain as much bus service as possible to Topeka residents.

The strategic planning firm Anderson Montgomery, LLC, owned by Vann Anderson and Larry Montgomery, has begun an analysis of TMTA operations that may help city officials and residents decide whether to increase its funding.

We don't know how the council and residents are going to rule on the funding issue, but Anderson and Montgomery are to be commended for offering their company's services, free of charge, to help provide us all with as much additional information as possible about the efficiency, services and financial situation of TMTA. Such an offer from experts in the private sector is a rare gift not to be taken lightly.

I am pleased that this company is providing this service. I hope they find better ways for TMTA to use their existing funds. I want them to provide the most and best service they can without a tax increase. Increasing taxes would hurt some of the very same people they are tying to serve.
